The JUMP FOR THE CHILDREN Horse Show, commonly referred to as the DUKE SHOW, is arguably the largest Hunter/Jumper show in North Carolina and a favorite of competitors and spectators alike.
Over 30 years of hosting the benefit show for the Duke Children’s Hospital spotlighting the JUMP FOR THE CHILDREN Grand Prix. The 2017 show had an exciting addition of Jump for the Children II. Jump for the Children takes place over two weeks in November each year. To date, this fabulous show has raised over $2.6 million for the Duke Children’s Hospital. Thank you to the wonderful sponsors who have given so generously to Duke Children’s Hospital.
Both shows this year will bring back all the favorites from previous shows, such as the lead line class, the stick horse race and the crowd-pleasing Grand Prix. Returning this year is the Welcome Jumper Stakes as well as, the USHJA sanctioned International Hunter Derby during the first week. Jump for the Children II will host a USHJA National Hunter Derby. These are just some of the many featured favorites at the Duke Show. Both shows will run classes all day each day in three rings with varied levels of fence heights and skill levels for riders of all ages, both amateurs and professionals.
Gorgeous ponies and horses being shown by professional riders as well as up and comers offer the spectator wonderful entertainment throughout the show. If that is not enough, the show also provides many shopping opportunities with some of the finest and varied vendors found anywhere. The JUMP FOR THE CHILDREN Horse Show is thrilled to have some of the very best tack stores in North Carolina and surrounding areas join us again this year. But, if shopping for the horse enthusiast is not your thing, there are many other vendors offering everything from accessories, clothing, pottery, artwork {oils, acrylics, pastels, gouache} and even more. To top it all off is the famed JUMP FOR THE CHILDREN Silent Auction and that closes just prior to the “jump off” during Saturday night’s featured Grand Prix at Duke II. Many local service and retail shops are very generous and donate items for the sole purpose of helping Duke Children’s Hospital. All money collected from the Silent Auction goes directly to the cause ….the Children’s Hospital.
